Here are some personal recommendations for
community resources in the Wisconsin/Milwaukee area:
Asia Society's Mapping the Nation! This is an interactive map that pulls together demographic, economic, and education indicators to show that the U.S. and Wisconsin are truly global.
Unfortunately, I have not utilized this website this year, but am hoping to next year. It seems like a wonderful resource to prove and demonstrate to your students, administration, and the community that their state is globalized right now. below is a link to the Wisconsin page:

Global Wisconsin! This is a non-profit organization that brings educators and others together to promote international learning, global awareness, and cross-cultural connections across Wisconsin.
To be honest, I didn't even know this resource existed before creating this Global Education Guide, but it looks like it could be incredibly helpful. They have information on Wisconsin Global Youth Summits and Global Education Achievement Certification, which is produced with assistance from the Wisconsin Department of Instruction. If you've used this resource and have ideas for me, let me know!

UW-Milwaukee's Center for International Education! This is a comprehensive unit committed to developing, promoting, and implementing international education initiatives for students, faculty, staff, and the community.
Not only does this resource have opportunities for international travel experiences, it also has an Institute of World Affairs. This department provides innovative programs for the public, educators, and students addressing current global and local challenges in our communities. There's a whole bunch of great resources here, including service learning projects, professional development, and a Global Education Online Digital Exchange. I have only done a little research on this resource but am planning to utilize and implement it soon.

Shaolin Center! This business in Waukesha helps individuals learn to live a longer, healthier, happier life through traditional Chinese martial arts, philosophy, and healing practices.
This is another resource that I hope to use in uniting my students with actual people from or with connections to China and other Asian countries. The center provides many classes, events, and youth programs. The students in the East Asia group in my Cultural Exchange Program had some issues with finding actual people from a variety of areas in Asia. Our answer could be this center!

Islamic Society of Milwaukee! This is the largest Islamic organization in Wisconsin for nearly 35 years. They operate mosques, schools, and even a university.
As I've stated before in this Global Education Guide, connecting my students with actual people from around the world, even if locally, has been extremely difficult. I am guessing that this rich resource could be really effective in having me bridge my classroom with professionals, students, educators, and other community members with ties to the Middle East. I will contact them before the end of this school year and see if we can do any amazing Global Education activities.
